Drive in Saturday (on a Thursday)

Thursday, August 2nd 2007, Wake up time: 9:55am

I woke up and had a 'health' breakfast of Coffee Cake. We took a drive to another beach, Nauset Light Beach. It was easily the best beach we'd gone to so far. It was great water and beautiful sands. We swam for quite a while as the water was very warm.

For lunch, I had the wonderful American delicacy of peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I continued reading Omerta, which, despite taking time to get into, was becoming a very enjoyable read. We went swimming a second time for the first part of the afternoon. However, it was a lot more rough this time and less enjoyable. At least I didn't lose anything this time! After the swim, we headed home.

Once arriving home, we watched What Women Want which starred Mel Gibson. It's a perfectly good film and he's a fine actor, it's just a shame he's a massive Jew hating bastard. The film ran on to about dinner time, which was mac and cheese with big sausages. Easily the best meal I'd had thus far, and with salad on the side I felt slightly healthy. After dinner, I helped washed up the dishes, as we'd all agreed to help keep the place immaculate (as it wasn't ours.)

We had seen a drive-in theatre on the way home from the beach, and they were showing the new Simpson film. (The title of the blog is a reference to a David Bowie song, for any one who is confused.) Ralph said it would be good to go as, despite being an 'American' thing, drive-in theatres aren't popular and now there aren't many left. We had agreed to go to see the film that evening, so we had some time to kill. Lyle, Claire and I went out into the garden and we just explored. We did find two frogs though! That was pretty cool! :) I got changed for the film that evening after saying goodbye to our two new friends.

We arrived at the theatre. It was very cool, you park your car and you get a speaker system that plays the audio and it syncs up with the picture. It's such a quaint thing that I'd hate to see it be lost forever. If you know a drive-in theatre near you...support it as often as possible! It's quite hard though because most people reading this aren't American :D The film was surprisingly funny. The Simpsons hadn't been great (in terms of new episodes) so I thought the film would just be recycled jokes. However, it was pretty damn funny. Although the Spider Pig joke died quickly.

We headed home after the film, I wanted to stay for Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard (due to my man crush on Bruce Willis) , but nobody else was interested. :( We got home and had some chocolates while we finished our game of Liverpool Rummy that we'd started the night before. I lost, quite hard and Claire managed to win! Something which she did not let the rest of us forget for the rest of the holiday. I retired to bed to the cheers of 'I won, dun dun, I won!"

Thanks for listening.
