For Once, A Meal with no Meat

Saturday, July 28th 2007, Wake up time: 10:30am

We went to breakfast that morning at a new diner that had opened up in town. It wasn't healthy food by any means but it was delicious! I had a delightful selection of chocolate chip pancakes and a root beer on the side. Ralph paid the bill and we left. We headed for Walgreens, which is more of a pharmaceutical Walmart, it sells deodorants, aftershave, toothpaste etc. I needed a new shaver as I was growing a modest beard. I picked up a cheap electric shaver that should last me, as my hair wasn't growing very fast.

We got home, and I began packing as the following day we were going to Cape Cod. After I'd finished it, apart from anything I'd pack the next day, I read more of A Hole in my Life. I was beginning to enjoy it as I got more into it. I have this problem with a lot of books, if it takes a while to get into it, I will sometimes give up. (Especially if I have to read it!) I managed to get half way through and actually took most of it in.

Claire's friend Kelsey came round. I met her and we played with Claire's bunny for a short while. I stopped to get some lunch, pitta bread and hummus. A meal without meat for once ;) After I finished, I went to play ping-pong with Lyle. I won 15 games to 11! I decided to go back and try and finish A Hole in my Life, which I did! I had thoroughly enjoyed it by the end, a heartbreaking, blunt look into life in American jails. Although this man was a convicted criminal, I could not help feeling a small amount of pity for him.

It had taken me the rest of the afternoon to finish the book, so Bev got dinner ready. She had bought pizza bases so we could put whatever we wanted on them. After I finished that I had dessert of brownies that we baked, using an easy bake recipe. They were rather delicious! One thing America truly does well is it sweet foods.

To finish the evening I watched some classic American television, namely "America's Funniest Home Videos" with the rest of the family. A relatively relaxing day, but I still had a lot of fun and was glad to finish one of the required reading book.

Thanks for listening.
