Monday, July 30th 2007, Wake up time: 10:30am
I woke up to a delicious breakfast of pancakes and bacon. We set off for the beach for a swim. We were using a map to check out all the local beaches, because we wanted to find which one was the best. This one...was not one of the good ones. The beach itself was absolutely fine but the sea was full of seaweed! Ewww.
I had bought my book with me, so I continued reading The Shawshank Redemption. For lunch I had my favourite of pastrami and melted cheese. After lunch, I went swimming again. We only when for a short while due to the disgusting seaweed. After we dried off a second time, we went to one of the local towns. Province Town was one of the big tourist areas...it's also famous for its large homosexual community. Not that I have a problem with this! I wanted to get my parents a gift from my time here, so I bought them a calendar which had a different picture of a famous Cape Cod landmark for each month.
There were a number of small shops that we looked in. However, it was mostly hand crafted things, which although well made was too expensive to purchase. We stopped in one of the cafés and I tried Claire's favourite drink of a 'Shirley Temple.' (Named after a child star of the thirties.) Although it had a pleasant taste, I'm not a massive fan of ginger ale so it wasn't delicious. We continued onto The Beachcomber which was a restaurant in Cape Cod for dinner. I had nachos with cheese to start and a burger with cheddar cheese and bacon for my main. There was lettuce too, so it was slightly healthy ;)
We came home, and Kate who had only been with us for the one night and was going home with her family. We said our farewells and we sat down to watch the Tom Hanks film 'Big.' It is a fantastic film, and I actually used a clip from the film recently! It's one of my favourite Tom Hanks films, it's an early one of his but it really does show what an amazing, varied actor he is. A great trip out and a really good end to the day!
Thanks for listening.
