Sunday, July 8th 2007, Wake up time: 8:40am
It was time to leave. We got up early so that we could have a good start on the journey back, as it was 6 hours long. We set off on the road for the long journey home. On the way, not a lot happened, I listened to music and chatted away with Lyle and Claire. We stopped on the way home for lunch, it was the same place we had stopped coming home from Lake Winnipesaukee. I had a Hickory Burger and some sweet potato fries. As we continued to drive, I needed to...urinate, and so we stopped at a service station. This was the first time I encountered a stereotypical American. There was a woman who got out of her car...she was seriously fat (and she went in the McDonalds, that won't help!). A lot of people in Arlington (the town I was staying) kept fit and I hadn't seen anyone obese, despite the assumptions by us as a nation. But, man she was FAT...like I hate to be so rude but it was obnoxious how fat she was.
We finally got home and I unpacked my bags. Claire needed to get some books so we headed over to Barnes and Nobel, the biggest book store chain in America. Claire picked up some girls's book and To Kill a Mockingbird (which I have recently read, and there will be a blog on this Friday at wallij.wordpress.com) and I bought two books which I wanted, the second Godfather book, The Godfather Returns and another book by Mario Puzo (the author of the Godfather) Omerta.
We headed home for dinner and picked up some ice-cream on the way home. Dinner consisted of just plain ol' pizza (however, this is my favourite food of all time.) For desert we used the ice-cream to make delicious sundaes. I checked my e-mail and then went to pack my bags. Bev had to look after her mother after an operation and so I was staying with Lyle at his Grandmother's in Connecticut for the week. I'm afraid most days so far haven't been long or detailed but I've given you a rough idea of what I did each day and it's good for me to remember each day individually.
Thanks for listening.
