Where in the World is Whitey Bulger?

Wednesday, October 3rd 2007, Wake up time: 6:45am

I had an apple danish cake for breakfast before heading to school. My first lesson was drama, which I used to practice and run my lines. She was very helpful and supportive. I actually have no problem learning lines, but I do learn best when just repeatedly doing scenes... unfortunately, we were on a tight time schedule and so we needed to learn our lines as soon as possible and focus on the blocking of scenes and actual acting (which is a lot easier when you've memorised the script.)  Algebra was my next lesson, where we used the lesson to revise for a test that was coming up.

In American literature, we began reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller (who was married to Marilyn Monroe, lucky son of a bitch.) However, I'm afraid to say I can hardly remember any of it. Even during my stay I kept forgetting we read it, as we didn't do much work on it. I'm sure it's good, I just haven't got round to re-reading it...maybe I will. For psychology, we had an emotion test...that was fun.

In American history, we watched a video on the homestead strike. It was one of the most serious strikes in American industry history, and it occurred when the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers went against the Carnegie Steel Company. They wanted more rights, or some shit. In all honesty, I can't be bothered to learn what happened, and it wouldn't interest you anyway! The good news was also that I passed on the test we'd recently taken!

My last lesson was film, where we continued to watch The Wizard of Oz. We also got out essays back! Film essays were marked out of 4, a 4 being an A...then 3.5 being an A- and then 3 being a B, you get the idea. I can't remember what I got on my first draft, but I was happy. I think I got a 3 (which wasn't bad for a first attempt). By the end of the year I was averaging a 3.5 in most essays, which was really great!

After class, I had a drama rehearsal. I began by running lines with Rosalie (as a majority of my scenes were with her). We then played a warm up game, which involved us standing in a circle and singing various songs, and if the other people knew it...they should sing along. I chose two songs to sing to, one being Stacey's Mom (who doesn't love that song?!) and then Help by The Beatles...to exaggerate by Britishness I guess. During the rehearsal, we ran through Act One twice..which went reasonably well, though I forgot a couple of my lines still :(.

I headed home, and got home for dinner of pasta and meatballs. I then cleaned up the kitchen as part of my usual chores. After dinner, I ended the evening by having a sit down with Ralph to watch the news and just generally converse. We saw a piece on Whitey Bulger (real name: James J. Bulger). If you don't know who he is, I'll tell you. He's a very interesting character and he's proof of how stupid the American government can be. He's been on the FBI's Most Wanted for many years. He's now about 81 years old...and he used to be a mobster criminal. Sure, he did a lot of bad things back in the day, but isn't it a little unnecessary to keep trying to find him? The FBI are wasting a lot of money, he doesn't want to be found...so he hasn't been. He's a clever man, and he's not terrible. He used to do good things for the poor people in his neighbourhood, it's just a shame he made money he gave to them by engaging in criminal antics. All the same, why they keep looking for him and doing the odd update on a 'possible sighting' I will never know.

Thanks for listening.
