Substitute!

Friday, October 5th 2007, Wake up time: 6:45am

I got to school, and I gave in a note for Bev as I had a doctor's appointment later in the day. I then went to algebra, where we had a substitute teacher! Whoever you are, however good you are as a student, you'll know a substitute is a great time as it's basically a lesson off. They rarely know what they're doing, they can't be bothered to discipline you and they just want to get through the day and get their pay. It sounds awful but it's true. Drama was a lot of fun, we watched some more performances before preparing for the Freshmen assembly. The Freshmen are like the first years of high school, and each year they get an assembly from the honours drama students about what they might expect from school life. We prepared a various number of sketches, and I got to do the introduction :D (Based on the fact I was also new and probably scared too...)

After that, I headed down to my American literature class, sometimes I refer to it as English for ease of use, but I mean the same thing...in case I've confused anyone ;) (I think about one person reads this though...). However, I left at 10:40 to go to my doctor's appointment. You may remember, I had one before and it had cost a lot then. I had to have my physical done, and have my three shots to immune myself from dangerous US diseases! It cost a whopping $225 (maybe $233) due to my lack of health care...as I may have said, I had health care in the event I got hit by a car or some other extreme incident, but not for minor things. It didn't matter, over the year, I didn't spend out enough for it to be worth getting proper health care cover, and as my mother said, if I'd got rid of my other health care cover, sod's law I'd be hit by a car.

I went to a place called Dave's for lunch, where I had a chicken Caesar wrap and some vitamin water. I got back to school, where I had a good natter with Sharon before doing some English vocab homework, as it was almost the end of the day. I helped out Sharon take down some shelving and I also got my history book back! I went and hung out with Alex, Cecille, two Lukes, Julia and Talia. I'll be honest, I asked out Joyce earlier in the year but I didn't put it down because it wasn't in my journal...I can assume I left it out for the obvious reason, she said no. She then did that thing some girls do, where they act cold and distant 'in case you get the wrong idea'. I had already decided I now fancied Talia (as you can tell, I was fickle.) Though that didn't go anywhere either... I felt close to Talia naturally, as she spent time in England and knew a lot about it and the education system and loved London! Every time I saw her, she also seemed to wearing the same Beatle's shirt, who obviously are known for being British.

We hung out in Sweet Sue's and I had a brownie and some iced-coffee. I also got dared to snort sugar...which is not that fun. It looks like you're snorting cocaine (kind of)...which is clearly every sixteen year old's dream. We agreed to go out that evening, but I had to go home first. I got dropped off and I got a nice allowance and a little extra of $40! Pam came round, and I briefly said hi to her before heading to Davis to meet up wit everybody. We went to Anna's as I had to try their burritos...which were quite delicious to be fair! I had a lime drink to wash it down.

We hung out generally after that and just drove around. I got myself an ice mocha, before heading to the station to catch a train back to Alewife. There was a long wait for the train, but we finally arrived at Alewife, where we met up with Morgan. We dropped off Cecille and then met up with Steve, Johnny and Max (all seniors). They were very lovely though, and Johnny was so funny! We headed to the Chilly Cow (which was closed) and just hung out in the parking lot...like the cool kids we are. We were getting cold, so I got a lift home. At one point Morgan, who was driving, absent mindedly drove on the left side of the road! I quipped 'Just because you have an English kid in the car, you don't have to accommodate for me.' I got home, after an exciting night out. To add to the greatness of the evening, the Yankees had lost! I did some dishes, and then watched some of Pulp Fiction but I wasn't paying that much attention as I was quite tired, so I gave up and headed to bed.

Thanks for listening.
